Hattie Ann Mccubbin Nowlin

Hattie Ann McCubbin Nowlin, age 93, passed away Friday, November 7, 2014 at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia, Tennessee.

Hattie was born February 26, 1921 in Campbellsville, Kentucky to the late William N. McCubbin and the late Ollie Noe McCubbin. Hattie lived a full and enjoyable life. She married at age 24 to Melvin V. Nowlin whom she shared 53 wonderful years of marriage. Hattie worked at a bomber plant during World War II in Dearborn, MI and as a teacher in a one-room schoolhouse in Campbellsville, KY. She also worked in the custom-decorating department at JC Penney’s in Nashville, TN for a time. Hattie was a devout Christian loved by many and will be dearly missed.

Hattie is survived by her sons, Dr. Steve (Debbie) Nowlin of Columbia and Tom (Debbie) Nowlin of Columbus, GA; grandsons, Patrick (Diana) Nowlin of Oklahoma City, OK, Drew Nowlin of Columbia, and Nick Nowlin of Columbus, GA; granddaughters, Leslie (Nathan) McBroom of Thompsons’ Station, TN and Bree Nowlin of Columbus, GA; and her brother, Bill McCubbin of Madison, IN.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Nowlin; brothers, John, Paul, Henry, Claude, and Lewis McCubbin; sister, Marie Cowherd; and parents, William and Ollie McCubbin.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 9, 2014 at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia from 1:30 p.m. until the service time at 3:00 p.m. in Williams Funeral Home Columbia Chapel. Dr. Steve Livengood and Reverend Billy Kimbrough will be officiating. Entombment will follow Monday at Woodlawn Cemetery in Nashville, TN.

Pallbearers will be Hattie’s grandsons Patrick Nowlin, Drew Nowlin, Nick Nowlin, and Nathan McBroom.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Jim Moore, Leon Dixon, Corky White, Kimball Maynard, Don Brewer, Don Brogan, and members of the Senior Adult Ministries of First Family.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Family Building Fund.
