Mr. Charles Harold Wood, age 87, a resident of North High Street in Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Tuesday, January 5, at his residence.
Funeral services for Mr. Wood will be conducted Thursday at 10:30 A.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Jeff Waldrop officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens.
The family will visit with friends on Wednesday from 4:00 ? 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Born on October 19, 1922 in Maury County, Harold was the son of the late Charles Edward Wood and Kate Logue Wood. He was the husband of Kitty Bradley Wood whom he married on August 26, 1950. Harold was retired from Occidental Chemical Company after 34 years of service as a machine operator. He was an avid Boston Red Sox baseball fan, loved music, gardening and telling jokes. Harold was a longtime member of the Sandy Hook Church of Christ where he served as a song leader.
Survivors in addition to his wife include two sons: Danny O. Kay Wood of Shady Grove and Gaylon Beverly Wood of Rockdale; two sisters: Audrey Nichols and Martha Faye Milan, both of Mt. Pleasant; two grandchildren: Reagan Wood of Nashville and Sabrina Norton of Rockdale; one great-granddaughter: Shaelyn Norton of Rockdale. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
The family has requested that memorials be made to the Sandy Hook Church of Christ, 8304 Lawrenceburg Highway, Mt. Pleasant, TN 38474.
Pallbearers will be Ray Bassham, Mark Hayes, Charles "Spud" Crotzer, Bobby Frazier, Robert Wood and Eddie Bassham.
