Harold Ray Sharpe, age 73, resident of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on March 22, 2016, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.
Harold was born January 15, 1943 in Maury County, the son of the late Clyde Sharpe and Lucy Attkisson Sharpe. On September 26, 1981, he married Susan McCauley and they enjoyed 34 wonderful years together.
Harold was retired from Stauffer Chemical Co. and was a mechanic, loving to rebuild truck motors. He was a good man who loved his family, especially his grandchildren, affectionately known as Papa and Paw Paw. He loved to buy, fix and sell trucks. He was a very scheduled person, went to town every morning looking for his next prize pick up truck of which he was known to say, “I’m going to keep this one.”
A memorial service will be conducted Thursday, March 24, at 6:00 P.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Larry Brown and Randy McNeece officiating. The family will visit with friends from 4:00 P.M. until service time on Thursday at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife, Susan Sharpe of Mt. Pleasant; one son, Phillip (Glenda) Sharpe of Mt. Pleasant, four daughters, Dana (Ricky) Lemay, Charlotte (Brian) Runions, both of Mt. Pleasant, Virginia (Kelly) Vick of Hermitage and Claudia (Elliotte) Kinzer of Columbia; 10 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter, Hannah Elizabeth Gray, 2 brothers, Tommy Sharpe and Jimmy Sharpe, and two sisters, Lola Beckum and Ruth Scott.
Honorary pallbearers will be Charlie Spencer and all his good buddies at the Airport Auto Sales in Mt. Pleasant, Jerry and Larry McNeece.
The family would like to give special thanks to all those who helped with upkeep of their lawn and anything else the family needed, all the doctors, staff and caregivers in the Cardiac ICU at Vanderbilt University Medical Center for their exceptional tender care and support.
