Harold Douglas “Doug” Poag, a selfless and compassionate man, left this world on October 19, 2023, in the comfort of his home in Columbia, Tennessee. He was born on June 14, 1933, to Alfred and Christine Poag and brought into this world a sense of dignity and ethical values that he carried with him throughout his life.
Described as a patient and self-sacrificing individual, Doug Poag was not only an excellent father and husband but also a remarkable person to those fortunate enough to know him. He lived his life by the book, always adhering to the highest ethical standards, leaving an indelible mark on the lives he touched.
Growing up in a big family, Doug learned the values of compassion and the importance of family bonds. He instilled these very values into his own family, creating a warm and loving home that will forever stand as a testament to his legacy.
Doug is survived by his beloved of 56 years wife, Heidi Poag, and their three devoted sons, Bowie (Virginia "Ginger") Poag, Kelley (Lynn) Poag, and Mark (Carolyn) Poag. His four adoring grandchildren, Alexander, Keegan, Liam, and Tyler, brought endless joy and pride to his life. He is also survived by his siblings, Brenda Webb and Gary Poag.
Doug Poag's passing is a loss not only to his family but to all who had the privilege of knowing him. His unwavering commitment to his loved ones and his unyielding integrity will be dearly missed but fondly remembered.
In honor of his memory, a service to celebrate Doug’s life will be held on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, Tennessee. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Harold's name, continuing his legacy of selflessness and compassion.
As we say goodbye to Doug Poag, we cherish the love, values, and beautiful life he shared with us. His memory will forever be a source of inspiration to us all.
