Mr. Harold Edward Grooms, age 85, of the Zion community, passed away on Monday, January 16, 2017 at Mt. Pleasant Health and Rehab.
Harold was born on May 31, 1931 in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee to Bill and Grace McCollum Grooms. He worked as a heavy equipment operator and farmer. He really enjoyed gardening and going down town to talk to his friends. He loved to cut-up, was always joking and was known to be a real prankster. He was of the Church of Christ faith.
Harold is survived by his children: Sally (Chuck) Parfrey of Culleoka and Sue “Luther” Barnett of Columbia; grandchildren: Chris Prince, Shana Bratton, Dana Crumley, Jerry Green, Stephanie Boshers, Terry Green and Dustin Bradford; numerous great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and sister: Thelma Floyd. He was preceded in death by his parents: Bill Grooms and Grace McCollum Grooms; the mother of his children: Jessie C. Dugger Grooms; two daughters: Linda Meyers and Vicky Bowie; two sons: Terry Grooms and Jerry Grooms and grandson: Michael King.
Funeral services for Mr. Grooms will be held on Thursday, January 19, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with David Kersey officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends on Wednesday, January 18 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. also at the funeral home.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
