Harold Edward “Buddy” Gibbs, 78, passed away Saturday, May 28, 2022, at his home in Lawrenceburg, TN. He was born on January 24, 1944, to the late Flournoy “Flick” Gibbs and Jewell Peppers Gibbs.
He graduated from Lawrence County High School in 1962. After high school, Buddy moved to Nashville and married Barbara Patterson. They made their home in Mt. Juliet, TN for more than three decades. He was a member of Green Hill Baptist Church and later Tulip Grove Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. Buddy had a lifelong love of music and over the years had close friendships with many top Nashville session musicians. He enjoyed camping, boating, and water-skiing, and spent many summers with family and friends at Center Hill Lake.
Buddy worked as a truck driver at Overnite Transportation for over 30 years and after retirement enjoyed running an antique store with Barbara before returning to his hometown of Lawrenceburg. There he and his brother Larry bought the former Salant & Salant Shirt Factory building and opened Jewel River Art. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Barbara, and brother, Steven Gibbs.
He is survived by: Son and daughter-in-law – Tim and Jennifer Gibbs;
Granddaughter – Ashley Gibbs
Great Grandchildren – Ivy, Aidan, and Noah
Siblings – Larry Gibbs; Gene (Trena) Gibbs; Jerry (Martha Jo) Gibbs; and sister Carolyn (Robert) Pulley
Caregiver – Debra Graves, who made it possible for Buddy to live his last years in his own home
