Guy Addison Robinson, a resident of Bath Springs, Tennessee, passed away in his home on December 4, 2018 from pancreatic cancer.
Guy was born on November 13, 1951, in Tampa, Florida. His parents were Wanda Jane Phillips and William Tyler Robinson, Jr.
Guy attended William B. Murrah High School in Jackson, Mississippi and was lifelong friends with his classmates, attending each reunion. He was sorry to miss the upcoming 50th! Educated at the University of Mississippi, Guy was elected "Ugliest Man on Campus," an honor for which he was most proud. Guy went on to become the U.S. Postal Inspector of Atlanta, serving in various supervisory positions during his 35-year career with the USPS before retiring in Madison, Mississippi. An Eagle Scout, Guy worked on rescue efforts with Hurricane Camille and spent summers working at the Philmont Training Boy Scout Ranch to help mold a new generation of young men. With Hurricane Katrina, Guy received a commendation for his work in reestablishing the mail service in record time. He was a lifetime member of the National Association of Retired Postal Inspectors.
An avid outdoorsman, Guy enjoyed fishing, golf, hunting and a great cigar. He was a Lifetime Sponsor of Ducks Unlimited. Guy was civic-minded, loved his community, volunteered to serve with the Decatur County Rescue Squad and kept his friends entertained with stories of armadillo trials. A member of the Clifton United Methodist Church, Guy loved his family, his country and God.
Guy was preceded in death by his parents, Wanda and William Robinson of Tampa, FL.
Guy is survived by his loving wife, Rebecca Moore Robinson of Bath Springs, TN, daughter Lucy Helen Robinson of Madison, MS, daughter Mary Cathleen Robinson of Ft. Collins, CO, brother Jeffrey Tyler Robinson of Ridgeland, MS, brother Mark William Robinson of Flora, MS and aunt Beva Ann Uzdilla of Langhorn, PA.
Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Williams Funeral Home of Columbia, TN. Guy's ashes will be scattered in three of his favorite places: the Tennessee River at his home, the swamps of Mississippi, and the Philmont Training Camp in Cimarron, New Mexico.
