Gretchen Belle Woods

Gretchen Belle McCartney Woods, age 64, passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2015 at Mt. Pleasant Health and Rehab.

Gretchen was born to Ernest and Janie Romine McCartney on September 26, 1950 in Nashville, Tennessee. She was married for thirty-eight years to Randy Woods and they had two sons together. She was a member of Freedom Church of Christ and loved the Lord and her church family.

Gretchen loved serving and taking care of others and this was demonstrated in some of the jobs she had throughout the years. She worked as a nurse at Hillview for nine years and as a driver for Med-Ride, Inc for five years. In addition to this, she worked at McDonalds and was the assistant manager at Phillips 66 for a number of years.

Mrs. Woods is survived by her loving husband: Randy Woods of Mt. Pleasant; sons: Sam (Lucy) Woods and Dan Woods both of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren: Hailey Woods and Austin Woods both of Mt. Pleasant; and step-grandchildren: Kayla Anderson and Dalton New both of Mt. Pleasant. She is preceded in death by her parents: Ernest McCartney and Janie Romine McCartney.

Funeral services for Gretchen will be held on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with David Kersey and Shawn Kelley officiating. Burial will follow at Blowing Springs Cemetery. The family will visit with friends on Saturday, February 28, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. also at the funeral home.

Jerry Hildenbrant, Terry Carpenter, Scotty Schrader, Jeremy Marshall, Scott Vandiver and Jack Patterson will serve as pallbearers. Members of the Freedom Church of Christ will be honorary pallbearers.
