Gregory "Greg" Van Dette

Gregory "Greg" Van Dette, age 37, a resident of Jeremy Drive in Columbia, passed away on Tuesday, July 20, 2010, at Hillside Hospital in Pulaski from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.

Greg was born in Hialeah, Fl, on March 23, 1973, the son of Virgil and Jacqueline Courson Van Dette of Augusta, GA. He was the husband of Carrie White Van Dette of Columbia. Greg was an honors graduate of Aiken Technical College in Aiken, SC. He was an Integration Engineer for Deloitte & Touche, LLP.

Greg loved flying his remote-controlled airplanes and spending time wake boarding at the lake with his family. He had a love for music which included playing his guitar. With his father and brother, Greg shared a love for Chevy Corvairs. Greg was a loving and dedicated father and enjoyed spending his time coaching Tristen in football. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and a member of Grace Church of the Nazarene.

Survivors in addition to his wife and parents include his children: Tristen Gregory Van Dette of Gladeville, TN and his unborn son Garrett James Van Dette; brother: Skip Susan Van Dette of OH, mother-and-father-in-law: Keith and Rita White of Brentwood; sister-and brother-in-law: Lindsay Bil Cadaret of Marietta, GA; nieces: Caitlin and Sarah Van Dette of OH.

Funeral services for Greg will be conducted Thursday at 4:00 P.M. at Grace Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Derek Hunter and Rev. Mark Lindstrom officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens.

The family will visit with friends on Wednesday from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia and on Thursday from 2:00 P.M. until time of service at the church.
The family has requested that memorial donations be made to Carrie Van Dette Memorial Fund at any First Farmers Bank location for Tristen and Garrett Van Dette.

Pallbearers will be Skip Van Dette, Dave Knolten, Patrick Klesel, Justin Snoblen, Bil Cadaret, Nate Sutliff, Warren Galbreath, Jerry Cox and Patrick King.
