Grace Ernestine Ruth

Mrs. Grace Ernestine Covington Ruth, 83, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, May 18, 2010.
A celebration of her life, led by Rev. Ken Polk and Rev. Billy Kimbrough, will be held on Friday, May 21, 11:00 a.m. at the Williams Funeral Home in Columbia. Burial will follow in the Polk Memorial Gardens.
The family will visit with friends on Thursday, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Ruth was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she taught children for many years. After retiring from the Maury County Clerk and Master Office in 1992, she became active in the senior adult ministries of her church. She loved her family, church, and friends, and was loved by all she met.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Gerald Henson Ruth; daughters, Diana Ken Polk of Murfreesboro, Jan Swann of Madison, Indiana, Debbie Ruth of Spring Hill, and Kelley Ruth of Murfreesboro; grandchildren, Rachel Jeremy Polk Hollie of Lima, Peru, Jason Polk, Joel Jenna Polk, all of Murfreesboro, and Sarah Blake Swann Thomas of Cincinnati, Ohio; great-grandchildren, Esther, Joy, and Josiah Hollie of Lima, Peru; and sisters, Edna Mills, Margaret Peltier, and Faye Myers. She was preceded in death by her parents, W.R. and Minnie Covington; brother, Howard Covington; and sister, Willie Day.
Pallbearers will be Jason Polk, Joel Polk, Blake Thomas, Sonny Day, Robert Belt, and Leon Dixon. Honorary pallbearers will be the Billy Kimbrough Sunday School class of First Baptist Church; neighbors, Fred and Lurline Elliott; and special caregivers, Ann Bonilla, Alice Staggs, and Patricia Stewart.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the children's building program at First Baptist Church, 2790 Pulaski Highway, Columbia, TN, 38401.
