Mrs. Gola Tyra Younger, age 93, a longtime resident of Santa Fe passed away on Monday, August 3, at Rosewood Manor Nursing Home.
Funeral services for Mrs. Younger will be conducted Friday August 7, at 1:00 P.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home of Columbia with Rev. David Usery officiating. Burial will follow in the Polk Memorial Gardens.
The family will visit with friends on Thursday from 5:00 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Gola was born on May 28, 1916 in Marion County, Alabama and was the daughter of the late George and Elizabeth Hood Tyra. She was the widow of John B. Younger who passed away in December of 1991. She worked at Dixie Manufacturing and Tennessee Knitting Mill in Columbia. Gola loved cooking, working in her garden and she will be remembered the most for her special love for every one. She was a member of the Mt. Wesley Akin Nazarene Church.
Survivors include a daughter: Norma Ann Jones of Santa Fe; one sister: Ola Woodard of Osceole, Arkansas; grandchildren: Sherri Jones of Murfreesboro, Lori Lemay of Lebanon, Kevin Jones and Shane Brigett Jones of Santa Fe; great-grandchildren: Jeremy Lemay, Carly Jones, Frankie Jones, Cody Jones, Evan Ferguson, Paige Jones and Savanna Jones; great-great-granddaughter: Alayna Jones.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons.
Honorary pallbearers will be all member of Mt. Wesley Akin Nazarene Church.
