Mr. Glenn F. Shirey, 75, a resident of Redwood Circle in Kingston Springs, Tennessee, passed away Wednesday, December 22, 2004 at his residence following a brief illness. Mr. Shirey was a 15 year survivor of one of the first fifty Tennessee Heart Transplants.
Funeral services for Mr. Shirey will be conducted Monday, December 27, 2004 at 10:00 a.m .at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Reverend William T. Knobel officiating. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a Masonic service at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The Lansing Michigan native was the son of the late Charles Fredrick and Dorothy Wright Shirey. He was the husband of Louise West Shirey. Mr. Shirey was a retired self ?employed electrician and a member of the Stoneybrook Lodge #5 in Rochester Michigan and was a master mason. Mr. Shirey served in the United States Navy during the Korean conflict. He was of Baptist faith.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Donna Allen Uselton and a son, Brian Christl Shirey both of Columbia, TN; five grandchildren, Adam Edwards, Emily Edwards, Heather Uselton, Heath Shirey and Alex Brown all of Columbia, TN; a sister, Marjorie Starr of Houston, TX; two nephews.
Honorary pallbearers will be Brian Shirey, Allen Uselton, Adam Edwards, Paul West, Wilbur West, Lawrence West, David West, Donald West and Charles Borden.
