Glenda "Nanny" Parson

August 3, 1946 — June 8, 2013

Glenda Gail Cantrell Parson “Nanny”, age 66, a longtime resident of Maury County passed away Saturday June 8, 2013 from an extended illness at Maury Regional Medical Center.

Glenda was born on August 3, 1946 to the late Wilburn Cantrell and Betty Grooms Liles in Mt. Pleasant, TN. Glenda worked for N.H.C. Hillview as a certified nursing assistant for 25 years before retiring, she loved taking care of others. She was a lifetime member of the Pentecostal Church of Christ. She was cherished by all who knew her.

Services for Ms. Parson will be Wednesday June 12, 2013 at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, beginning at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Mark Thomas and Bro. Doyle Parham will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening June 11, 2013 from 4-9 p.m. also in the funeral home.

Glenda is survived by her two daughters: Tina Parson and Kimberly Parson; Two sons: Brian (Donna) Parson and Condley (LeeAnn) Parson; Six granddaughters: Grace Graham, Calleigh Clardy, Aerial Cunningham, Alli (Travis) Hanvy, Susie (Jason) Tucker and Christy (Stevie) Fowler; Five grandsons: Jack Reed Graham, Briley Graham, Cody Prince, Chauncey (Shannon) Parson, and John Parson; Six great granddaughters: Lacy Fowler, Sury Ann Prince, Mary Ella Parson, Elianna Parson, Arabella Hanvy and Alyssa Tucker; Four great grandsons: Tyler Tucker, Cash’ Cunningham, John Michael Graham and Stevie Fowler; “Special” Grandchildren: Joshua Gibson, Kevin Gibson, and Taye Calvert; As well as many nieces and nephews; Special mention: Tonya Howard, Waylon Cates and Michael Hendrix; Two sisters: Melissa Hendrix and Vicky (Richard) Calvert; Two brothers: Steve (Charlene) Cantrell and Stanley (Cathy) Cantrell. Glenda was preceded in death by her sister Sherry Cantrell Johnson, a niece, Bridget Cantrell and one nephew, Jeremiah Cantrell.

Pallbearers will be nephews and grandsons. Honorary Pallbearers will members of the Pentecostal Church of Christ. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Robert Bain, Dr. Cary Pulliam, the staff at Maury Regional Medical Center’s CIU, and the first response team.
