Gina Rachelle Potts

September 11, 1979 — January 23, 2022

Gina Rachelle Potts was tragically and suddenly taken from us Sunday, January 23, 2022 at her home in Spring Hill, Tennessee. She was 42 years old.

Gina was born September 11, 1979, to her loving parents Sanford and Myra Brooks Potts at Baptist Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee. She lived most of her loving and amazing life in Columbia, TN and had just recently bought her first home in Spring Hill, TN, of which she was so proud.

Gina graduated from Columbia State Community College with an Associate of Science Degree. She then attended Middle Tennessee State University before she transitioned to and graduated with a Practical Nurse Diploma from Tennessee College of Applied Technology. Upon graduation, she quickly passed nursing boards and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. Being one of her goals in life, she immediately took the path of truly caring for people. This was one of her greatest attributes, the ability to engage, listen, and respond to the needs of her patients. Nursing was not a random job for Gina, it was truly a calling in which she thrived in all aspects. As she flourished and excelled in her career, she was always pushed and encouraged to further her education. Just recently, she returned to school at Western Kentucky University to complete her degree and become a Registered Nurse. Always wanting to gain additional knowledge in order to be an even better nurse, she was on track to graduate this July. In the context of her untimely death, and unfortunately unbeknownst to her, she will be awarded her Diploma from WKU.

Family and friends characterize Gina with one phrase, “She was an angel on earth.” She can best be described by one simple word, beautiful. Not only in relation to her outer beauty, but by the overwhelming inner beauty she shared with every person she ever met. She truly was the epitome of a radiant beam of light, warmth, kindness, and never-ending love. She will forever live in the hearts of those she touched as the most loving, caring, and wonderful daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend.

The most important aspect of life to Gina was the presence and love of her family. If she was not at work, school, or caring for her little dog Coco, you could always find her with her beloved family. Her time on this earth was entirely too short, however the amount of lives she was able to touch is innumerable.

She is survived by her father Sanford, mother Myra, brother Jonathan, nephew Greyson, mother of nephew EmilyJo, nieces Kailey and Gracie Mae, aunts Rochelle, Janie and Peggy, uncles Bruce and P.D. (Rabbit), cousins Mike, Mark, Cherie, Eric, Whitney, Katie, Chris, and Jeff; and her Vanderbilt family.
