Mr. Giles Maury Colvett, age 67, resident of Golf Club Road in Mt. Pleasant, passed away Saturday, August 14, 2010 at Maury Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.

Funeral services for Mr. Colvett will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 in the chapel of the Williams Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant with Randy Kersey officiating. Interment will follow at Arlington Cemetery. A Masonic service will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. on Monday and from 4:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Born April 8, 1943 in Maury County, He was the son of the late James Reece and Eva Janie Prentice Colvett. He was the husband of Reba McCaleb Colvett of Mt. Pleasant. He was a maintenance man with Tegrant Corp. in Mt. Pleasant. He was a Master Mason of the Mt. Pleasant Masonic Lodge #610. In his early life he played bass fiddle in a bluegrass band. He loved gardening, going to the river with his family and he enjoyed surrounding himself with his grandchildren. He was of the christian faith.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, James Melissa Colvett and Maury Lee Stacy Colvett both of Mt. Pleasant; a daughter, Pam Barry Smithmier of Cookeville; two brothers, James "Peewee" Charlotte Colvett and Jerry Teresa Colvett both of Mt. Pleasant; two sisters, Margaret Junior Staggs of LaMarque, Texas and Diane Colvett of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren, Breanne Colvett, John Wesley Colvett, Crystal Cowley, Drew Colvett, Patrick Colvett, Amber Pippin, Brittany Smithmier, Hogan Smithmier, Maury Lee Colvett, Jr., Payne Colvett and Clay Colvett; great-grandchildren, Chase Pippin, Cadence McKennon, Kaegan McKennon and Kyson Noble. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Keri Stowell, great-grandson, M.J. Colvett, three brothers, Boyd, Charlie and Wimp Colvett and a nephew Reece Colvett.

Grandsons will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be all of his nieces and nephews which are Mickey Colvett, Jack Colvett, Rusty Colvett, Connie Hyatt, Shannon Curtis, Samantha Marks, Charlene Farr, Nancy Wormkan, Terry Colvett, Lynn Smith, Denise Moore, Gerry Colvett, Capree Mangrum and Heather Garcia and co-workers of the Tegrant Corp.
