Geraldine "Jeri" Johnson

Geraldine “Jeri” Peery Johnson, age 85, passed away on March 26, 2018. She was born July 10, 1932 in Maury County, Tennessee to Izora and Andrew Jackson Peery. She graduated from Culleoka High School as Salutatorian in 1950 and from Columbia Business School. After graduation, she began her career with Production Credit Association, later known as Farm Credit Services.

Jeri is survived by her husband: W.C. Johnson whom she married in 1958; their son: William Campbell (Cam) Johnson, Jr.: daughter in law: Becky; grandchildren: Grayson and Victoria of Fort Mill, South Carolina; sisters: Imogene (Ewell B.) Harris and Judy Anderson; sister in law: Carolyn Peery and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother: Izora Wise Peery; father: Andrew Jackson Peery; sister: Lequita Peery Rose and brother: Hugh Ervin Peery.

At age 12, Jeri accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and Lord at Cathey’s Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church. In 1954 she moved her church membership to Friendship Baptist Church in Culleoka where she served as Sunday School Teacher and director of Youth Bible Drill for many years. After she and W.C. married, they joined the First Baptist Church of Mt. Pleasant where they became very active members. She served as Sunday School Teacher, was a scholar of the Bible and was actively involved in teaching the scripture to young people. For many years, Jeri and her husband W.C. served on trips with Maury Baptist Missions, rebuilding churches and sharing God’s message.

Jeri was a dedicated wife who supported her husband as he coached Mt. Pleasant Tiger Basketball. Many would see her cross stitching several special items while sitting in the bleachers.

A lover of nature, she enjoyed gardening, visiting and sharing vegetables with friends and neighbors. She was an exceptional cook; her special caramel pies were enjoyed by many. She was a true Christian lady who shared God’s love with family and friends.

The family will visit with friends on Thursday, March 29, 2018 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at Williams Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant as well as on Friday, March 30, 2018 from 12:00pm until 1:00pm. A funeral service will follow at 1:00pm. Interment will be held at Polk Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers are Grayson Johnson, Andrew Jordan, Ronnie Harris, Byron Peery, Nathan Peery, Jeff Harris and Kevin Rose. Honorary pallbearers are Past and Current members of Sunday School class at First Baptist in Mount Pleasant, Joyce Owens, Marie Jones, Marilyn Chambers, Kaleigh Clifton and Gideons International South Camp of Columbia, TN.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to First Baptist in Mount Pleasant, 201 Bond Street, Mount Pleasant, TN 38474 and Gideons of Columbia, 2632 Leah Drive, Columbia, TN 38401.
