Gerald Wayne Ricketts

July 9, 1946 — August 5, 2011

Gerald Wayne Ricketts was born in Columbia on July 9, 1946, at the King's Daughters Hospital, son of the late John Howard and Annie Ruth Scribner Ricketts. He was a 1964 graduate of Columbia Central High School. On October 23, 1981, Wayne was married to Linda Andrews who survives. Wayne worked as the service manager for various car dealerships throughout the years, namely the Chrysler dealership in Columbia and Ford dealership in Murfreesboro. Wayne and Linda made their home in Columbia for a number of years but had made their home in Murfreesboro for the last 19 years. He had served in the Army National Guard and was a member of the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Columbia.

Survivors in addition to his wife, Linda, include his children: Rachael Jeff Yearwood of Memphis, Sonya David Blackwell of Murfreesboro, Sharon Eric Hileman of Columbia and Derek Jennifer Smith of Antioch; grandchildren: Wilson Yearwood, Molly Kate Yearwood, Timothy Taylor, Krista Taylor, Kayla Taylor, Amaya Smith and Danielle Huckaby; great-grandchildren: Shaylyn Taylor, Bralon Taylor, Braden Taylor and Andrew Taylor; brother: Blaine Deborah Ricketts of Columbia; sister: Katrina Mike Bergman of Columbia. In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Ashley Huckaby.

Wayne passed away on Friday at his home surrounded by his loving family following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at 12:00 Noon in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Bro. Calvin Carroll officiating. Burial will follow in the Andrews Cemetery in Santa Fe.

The family will visit with friends Monday from 4:00 – 9:00 P.M. and after 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Joel Ricketts, Wesley Ricketts, Thomas Andrews, Jr., Michael Bergman, Jeff Scott and John Gilliam. Honorary pallbearers will be all of Wayne's friends at My Office Products.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks for the loving care given to Wayne by the Caris Hospice staff of Murfreesboro.
