Gerald Keith Ledbetter

Mr. Gerald Keith Ledbetter, 86, of Mt. Pleasant died January 2, 2003, at Maury Regional Hospital. He was the son of Sam and Mattie Belle Kincade Ledbetter of Mt. Pleasant. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joan Hutcheson Ledbetter, his children Anabel and Ron Stevens, and Barbara Tompkins; his grandchildren, Dave and Sheridon Tompkins, Matt and Lee Stevens, Destin and Kristen Tompkins, Courtney and Joe Baughn; his great granddaughter, Taylor Ann Tompkins; and other relatives and friends.

Mr. Ledbetter owned and operated Keith's Flowers in Mt. Pleasant for 36 years and was a past president of the Tennessee State Florist Association. He was an active Board Member of the Mt. Pleasant First United Methodist Church for over 50 years, served with the United States Army from 1940 until 1946, joining the 113th Ordnance Maintenance Company as an officer. He remained an active reservist until his retirement as Major in 1968. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Rotary Club with perfect attendance for 28 consecutive years, and was honored as a Paul Harris Fellow. He was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Masonic Lodge and Maury County Scottish Rite and Shriners' Clubs, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Maury Federal Savings Bank from 1968 until 1990. Mr. Ledbetter was a member of the Board of Directors of the Maury County Water System from 1985 until 1995, served on the Mt. Pleasant Board of Appeals for over 20 years, and was currently an active member of the Maury Regional Hospital Volunteer Auxiliary.

Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday, January 3, at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 Saturday, January 4, at the Mt Pleasant First United Methodist Church preceded by visitation in the sanctuary from 1:00 until 2:00. Burial will follow at Arlington Cemetery. Lex Hutcheson , nephew, will conduct the service.

Gilliam, Joe Gilliam, George Brooks Jr., Bill Wilsford, Lee Dugger, Jimmy Quirk, Tom Harrison, James Parrish, Jesse H. Poag, Dr. Mark Shelton, Dr. and Mrs Grant Barr, and friends and staff of the Dialysis Associates of Columbia.
