George Nichols

Mr. George Nichols, age 86, a resident of Southport Road in Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2008, in Maury Regional Hospital.
Funeral services for Mr. Nichols will be conducted Friday at 1:00 P.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Bro. Randy McNeese and Bro. Dave Kersey officiating. Burial will follow in Arlington Cemetery.
The family will visit with friends from 5:00 – 9:00 P.M. on Thursday at the funeral home.
The Maury County native was the son of the late Butler and Annie Powell Nichols. He was married, for 59 years, to the late Rachel Benderman Nichols, who preceded him in death. He was a retired carpenter, and a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his children: Linda Gail Whitley, of Columbia; Paul "Tammy" Nichols, of Summertown; Jeanne Buddy Tomlin, of Franklin; Kay Mike Humphries, of Mt. Pleasant; Connie Larry Vandygriff, of Mt. Pleasant; Tammy Stephen Walker, of Columbia; a daughter-in-law, Margaret Ann Nichols, of Williamsport; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sons: Wayne Nichols, and Robbie Nichols; one great-granddaughter, Emily Stancil; and several brothers and sisters.
Pallbearers will be Brent McCain, Brad McCain, Scottie Nichols, Jay Hutcherson, Ryan Staggs, Wendell Vandygriff, Brian Vandygriff, and Justin Dillehay. Honorary pallbearers will be all step-grandchildren.
