George Ray Chapman, age 86, passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2022, at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia, Tennessee. George was born May 29, 1936, in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee to the late Lester Chapman and Annie Beatrice Odom Chapman.
George was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He always provided for his family. George worked for over 32 years with General Motors as a mechanic. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed farming caring for land and animals. When George took some time to relax, he enjoyed watching country westerns, particularly those with John Wayne. George took joy in the simple things he loved his family and working to provide for his family. George is loved and will be dearly missed by those who knew him.
George is survived by his wife: Jimmie Faye Chapman; children: James (Deborah) Ray Chapman, Michael (Rose) Leroy Chapman, Thomas (Terri) Lynn Chapman, Danny (Jana) Wayne Chapman, Kenneth (Theresa) Chapman; grandchildren: Randy Chapman, Eric Chapman, Brian Chapman, Rebeca Smith, James M. Chapman, Steven Chapman, Adam Chapman, Brandon Slanchik, Gary Chapman, Timothy Chapman, Lester Chapman, Sebastian Jaggers, Stephanie Chapman, and Johnathan Chapman; great grandchildren: Alyssa, Brianna, Olivia, Emma, Kara, Erica, Jake, Ross, Courtney, Nathan, Will, Logan, Emma, Eli, Preston, Weston; siblings: Lester Chapman, Jr., Thomas D. Chapman, Shelby Harris, Bonnie Wirt, Vivian Shomo, James Howard Chapman, Delores Brooks, and Patricia Chapman; sister in laws: Dorothy Longsdorf and Rosemary Chapman; daughter-in-law: Cheryl Bates; several nieces and nephews.
The family will visit with friends Friday, August 5, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in Williams Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, TN. Services for George will be held Saturday, August 6, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. with burial to follow at Arlington Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant, TN.
Pallbearers will be Brian Chapman, Timothy Chapman, Randy Chapman, Steve Chapman, Eric Chapman, Johnathan Chapman, Jim Chapman, and Brandon Slanchik.
