Geneva "Nookie" Colvett

August 8, 1943 — March 19, 2009

Mrs. Geneva "Nookie" Colvett, age 65, passed away on Thursday, March 19, at her home on Elk Ridge Road in Mt. Pleasant.

Funeral services for Mrs. Colvett will be conducted Saturday at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Bro. Dale Prentice and Bro. James Prentice officiating. Burial will follow on the family property on Elk Ridge Road.

Geneva was born on August 8, 1943 in Giles County, the daughter of the late William Thomas "W.T." and Alice Barnett Prentice. Her husband, Charlie Colvett, preceded her in death. She loved being a homemaker and raised five children and five of her grandchildren. One of her favorite pastimes was attending the Grand Ole Auction in Pulaski. Geneva was a member of the Welcome Valley Baptist Church in Giles County.

Survivors include her children: Charlene Darren Farr of Murfreesboro, Nancy Workman of Summertown, Samantha Buddy Marks of Summertown, Jack Kawanna Colvett of Mt. Pleasant and Rusty Libby Colvett of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren: April Chapman, Stephanie Adams, both of Mt. Pleasant; Tiffany Workman, Charlie Workman and Malachi Colvett, all of Summertown; great-grandchildren: Kolby Chapman and Damian Chapman; a sister: Lillie Mae Wilson of Houston, Ala., a brother: James Prentice of Summertown; a sister-in-law: Dimple Prentice of Pulaski; many nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a great-grandson: Darius Chapman.

Pallbearers will be Robert Allen, Bud Runions, Art Kinslow, Maury Lee Colvett, Mickey Chapman, Vernon Prentice and Randy Sanders. Honorary pallbearers will be Margaret Staggs, Jerry Colvett, Maury Colvett, James Colvett, Diane Colvett, Capree Mangrum, Buster Barnett, friends and neighbors on Elk Ridge Road and all of her friends from the Grand Ole Auction in Pulaski.
