Gene Ray Roberts

Mr. Gene Ray Roberts, 64, a resident of the Baptist Branch Road in Mt. Pleasant passed away Saturday, March 18, 2006 at Maury Regional Hospital.

Funeral services for Mr. Roberts will be conducted Tuesday March 21, 2006 at 2:00 pm at the Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Reverend William Owens and Reverend Tommy Fox officiating. Burial will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 3:00 to 8:00 pm and Monday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

The Maury County native was the son of the late, Walter and Mamie Bell Workman Roberts and the husband of Betty Jean Carpenter Roberts. He was preceded in death by his first wife Lois Jean Scroggins Roberts. Mr. Roberts retired from Smith Trucking and Excavating Company. He served in the Army/National Guard and also an avid lover of hunting, fishing and drag racing and was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, Laquita John Stanfill and NelsonCarol Roberts both of Columbia, TN, Joel Deborah Roberts of Primm Springs, TN, Clifford Roberts of Columbia, TN, Richard Dawn Roberts of Mt. Juliet; grandchildren, Jeana Paul Caudle of Santa Fe, TN, Jason Amanda Roberts of Mt. Pleasant, TN, Doug Amy Roberts of Columbia, TN, Brian La Donna Stanfill of Rock Hill, S.C., Stephanie Stanfill of Columbia, TN, Kyle Roberts and Brittany Roberts both of Primm Springs, TN, Meghan Roberts and Lucus Roberts both of Mt. Juliet, TN; great-grandchildren, John Paul Caudle and Sammy Joe Caudle both of Santa Fe, TN, Wesley Ray Roberts and Colton James Roberts both of Mt. Pleasant, TN, Jessie Wayne Roberts of Columbia, TN; two sisters, Elaine Huffmaster of Tecumsea, Michigan and Ellen Rankin of Columbia, TN.

He was preceded in death by five brothers, Howard Roberts, Harry Roberts, J.W. Roberts, Edward Earl Roberts, and Douglas Roberts; three sisters, Pearl Cothran, Dorothy Evedean Knowles and Ruby Cothran.

Pallbearers will be Grandsons.
