Gaylon James “Goober” Richardson was to everybody what you would expect. He was a loving fiancé, a devoted father to his son, and of course, he began in this life as a thoughtful son. The twenty-two year old was far more than what you would expect though, spending more time outdoors during his short life than he ever did in. He passed away Friday August 22, 2014.
Goober, as he was affectionately known, was born in Columbia, TN to Brenda Norman Richardson and the late James Brenard Richardson. He worked hard as a carpenter with Jay Green Construction, also for UPS loading and unloading their trucks. Goober was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School, the Class of 2010.
Being an avid outdoorsman, Gaylon loved to hunt and fish, and spend time on the farm he loved in Mt. Pleasant. He loved his Dodge Ram as well as Enduro racing. He was more than just the hunter, the fisherman, and the racer. He was intelligent, had an excellent sense of humor, and he could do anything. There were so many things that he could do and so many things he loved, but above all, he loved Maliah; she was his rock. Maliah and their infant son Levi were the true loves of his life.
Services to celebrate the life of Gaylon will be held Monday beginning at 2 p.m. in the Williams Funeral Home, in Mt. Pleasant. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 4-8 p.m. Burial will follow at Friendship Cemetery in Culleoka. Rock Jagger’s will be officiating. Memorials may be made to Community First Bank and Trust to Gaylon’s infant son: Levi Wayne Richardson Trust.
Pallbearers for Gaylon will be John Carter Green, Matt Hayes, John Colvett and Jericho McKennon, Chase Deridder, Jacob McConnell. Honorary Pallbearers are Bob Cathey, Michael Crutcher, Eric Sensat, Dave Hunter, James “Toehead” Bradford, Sydek and UPS employees.
Gaylon leaves behind his infant son Levi Wayne Richardson; his fiancé Maliah Vasquez; his mother Brenda Norman Richardson; one brother: Samuel Hays Richardson; one sister: Lauren Norman; his grandparents: Blackie and Mary Norman and Sally Richardson Barnes; aunt and uncles: Kim (Steve) Richardson, Beverly (Jay) Green, and Barbara Hinson; cousins: Mary Kelsey Green, John Carter Green, Kaleb Hinson, Kameron Hinson and Katie Hargrove. He is also survived by the numerous friends and family that loved him. He was preceded in death by his father James Brenard Richardson.
