Columbia

Gary Allen Velasco, born on December 3, 1944, in Gilroy, California, peacefully departed this world on November 23, 2023, surrounded by the love of his family at his home in Columbia, Tennessee.

Gary, a proud patriot, served his country with honor in the United States Navy. He had a lifelong passion for classic cars, and he loved to speak about it with anyone who would listen. You could usually find him at his favorite local karaoke venue singing his favorite songs.

Gary leaves behind a legacy that will forever be etched in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. He was a devoted husband to his loving wife, Yolanda Garcia Velasco, with whom he shared countless moments of joy and companionship.

As a dedicated father, Gary's nurturing spirit extended to his children: Roland (Lisa) Velasco, Al (Heather) Velasco, and Nicole Velasco (Marty) Rivera. His guidance, love, and unwavering support were the cornerstones of their lives, fostering a family bond that remains unbreakable. Gary is the proud grandfather to 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Gary's legacy also includes the warmth and wisdom he shared with those fortunate enough to call him a friend. His kindness, generosity, and genuine nature touched the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

In this time of mourning, let us remember Gary for the laughter he brought, the love he shared, and the lasting impact he had on the lives around him. May his soul find eternal peace, and may the memories of his vibrant spirit continue to bring solace to those who mourn his passing.

A private ceremony will be held in Columbia, Tennessee for the immediate family.  A Celebration of Life will follow at a later date.
