GW Miller, age 86, passed away on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at NHC Columbia.
GW (Cuz) Miller was born on September 19, 1928 in Earle, Arkansas – the son of the late George and Clara (Nelson) Miller. He was educated in Earle Ark Schools. He joined the Navy, where he spent four years as an SERA operator on an aircraft carrier. After he was discharged, he worked for Kroger and various stores as a butcher. He then moved to Memphis, Tennessee and went to work for Armour as a sales representative and manager of beef department. He was an active member at First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Columbia. GW was loved by the children of his church, and many of them knew him by "Peepaw."
He is survived by his wife Martha Martineau Miller; daughter Allison Ward and her children Clara (Malcom) Taylor, Mary Martha Ward, and William Ward, all of Oxford, Mississippi; his son, Gregory Wade Miller and his children Mahlory Miller (her child Lucy Saylor); his sisters, Mary (Steve) McNabb, Margaret (Bill) Baker, Ruth (Charles) Wright, Nelda (Roger) Horn, all of Arkansas; and brothers Fred Miller of Wynn, Arkansas and Larry Miller of West Memphis, Arkansas.
He was preceded in death by son-in-law, Haynes Ward, sister, Betty Cyr and grandsons, Greg Ward and Brandon Miller.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, Tennessee with Rev. Calvin Lunn officiating. The family will visit with friends from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.
G.W. has requested that everyone remember him as he was the last time you saw him.
