Mrs. Freddie Jane Evins Johnson, age 97, a resident of Culleoka, passed away on Friday, May 6, 2011, at her residence.
Graveside services for Mrs. Johnson will be conducted Sunday, May 8, 2011 at 4:00 P.M. at Polk Memorial Gardens with Chaplin Jeff Foster officiating.
The family received friends on Saturday from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Sunday from 2:30-3:30 p.m. at the Williams Funeral Home in Columbia.
Mrs. Jane was born on May 9, 1913 in Hohenwald, TN, the daughter of the late Thomas Jane and Alma Sharp Evins. She was the wife of the late Malcolm "Foots" Johnson whom she married in 1933. She was a graduate of Hay Long High School. Mrs. Jane was a homemaker and was of the Methodist Faith and also attended the Culleoka Methodist Church. She loved spending her time reading with her late husband. Mrs. Jane enjoyed making quilts for all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. If you attend the service for Jane you will see draped on her casket a beautiful quilt that she spent many hours of tender love and care doing something she enjoyed.
She is survived by two daughters: Mona Jack Westmoreland and Patsy Martin of Culleoka; grandchildren: Vickie Howard Beaver of Columbia, Billy Dwayne Betty Martin of Columbia, David Martin of Fayetteville, Valerie Jim Hooten of Culleoka; great-grandchildren: Randy Rachel Thompson of Fort Hood, TX, Jennifer Jared Ring and Ashley Hooten of Culleoka, Jeffrey Martin and Kevin Bethany Martin of Columbia and Joshua Hollingworth of Fayetteville; great-great-grandchildren: Brooklyn and Tyler Thompson, Joshua Taft, Gavin and Katilyn Ring and Tristan Martin; She was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Tom Perry, Dora Nell King and Grace Harris, one brother, Frank Evins.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and great grandsons.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the charity of your choice or Culleoka Volunteer Fire Department.
