Franklin Stevens

Franklin ?Frank? Stevens, age 78, a resident of Scott Town Road in Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Wednesday, September 20, 2006, at his residence.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, September 24, at 2:00 P.M. at the Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Rick Points officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens.

The family will visit with friends on Saturday from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

The Knox, NY, native was the son of the late Miner Stevens and Beatrice Bellinger Stevens. In 1972 he married Joan Knapp Stevens who survives. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict and was of the Baptist faith. He had been employed in the maintenance department of Belk-Lindsey and Polk Memorial Gardens and had also worked for Food Lion.

Survivors in addition to his wife include one daughter: Selena Billy Simmons of Hohenwald; one son: Franklin Stevens, Jr., of Calif.; two step-daughters: Tami Hulbert of Mt. Pleasant and Mary Hulbert of Lockport, NY; one step-son: Colin Hulbert of Vero Beach, FL; five brothers: Gilbert Evelyn Stevens of Berne, NY, Doug Stevens of Coxsackie, NY, Miner Stevens of Berne, NY, Roger Stevens of Bradenton, FL and Bill Martha Vanbuschigan of Vero Beach, FL; five sisters: Diane Don Ehmann of Schenectady, NY, Pauline Gaige of Schenectady, NY, Barbara West of Vero Beach, FL and Betty Stevens of Albany , NY; one grandson: Wayne Simmons of Hohenwald and one step-grandson: Quentin Dugger of Mt. Pleasant.
Friends and family will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Jodi Blevins, Larry Hunnicutt and Dwayne Weaver.
