Mr. Frank Joseph Lukasik, age 90, resident of Huntington Drive in Columbia, passed away Tuesday, August 10, 2010, in Chapel Hill following an extended illness.

A funeral mass for Mr. Lukasik, will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, August 13, 2010 at St. Catherine Catholic Church with Rev. Davis Chackaleckel officiating. Entombment will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with full military honors provided by the U.S. Army.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Thursday at Williams Columbia Funeral Home.

Born July 3, 1920 in Hamtramik, Michigan, He was the son of the late Frank George and Clara Krok Lukasik. He was married over 60 years to Bernadine Kinsler Lukasik of Columbia. He was an avid golfer. He enjoyed hunting and camping with his son Mark. He loved walking with his dog Lilly. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps where he received an honorable discharge. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He took part in two major battles and was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, American Theater Ribbon, EAME Theater Ribbon with three bronze stars, the Good Conduct Medal and Victory Medal WWII. He was honorably discharged as a Tech. Sergeant. He was skilled trade as a Welding Equipment Maintenance and Repair with General Motors Corp. where he retired in 1986 with 27 years of service. He was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church and a 40 year member of the Knight's Of Columbus.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Mark M. Barbara Lukasik, Sr. Of Columbia; two grandsons, Mark M. Amanda Lukasik, Jr. of Spring Hill and Jonathan R. Lukasik of Columbia; a great-grandson, Collin Lukasik of Spring Hill; a great-granddaughter, Mallory Lukasik of Spring Hill; two sisters, Clara Charles Justice of Clare, Michigan and Helen Kruse of Port Huron, Michigan; and nine nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother Walter W. Lukasik.

Active pallbearers will be all members of the Knight's of Columbus. Honorary pallbearers will be members of St. Catherine Catholic Church.
