Mr. Frank Joseph Janosik, age 87, a resident of Dale Court in Columbia, passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2007.
Funeral services for Janosik will be conducted Saturday, July 28 at 10:00 AM at St. Catherine Catholic Church with Father Clare Hendricks officiating. Burial will follow in the Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19.
The family will receive friends Friday from 10:30 AM to 9:00 pm at the Williams Funeral Home in Columbia. A prayer service will be conducted Friday at 7:00 pm.
Born in Hutchins, Iowa, he was the son of the late Joseph and Anna Valenta Janosik and husband of Rosalie Moran Janosik, who he married in September 17, 1949. After raising his three children in the Chicago suburbs, he moved to Columbia in 1991 to live out his retirement. Frank and Rosalie celebrated their Golden Anniversary at the Opryland Hotel in 1999 with all of their children. They were very active in the lives of their children and grandchildren throughout the years by going on trips and enjoying the many activities with them.
He retired from General Motors in 1987, as an electrical technician. He served as a staff sergeant in the Army Signal Corps during WWII and with his 4 brothers, known as the ?Fighting Janosik?s? and as Conservation Corps volunteer after the war. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather, who loved to work in the yard, around the house and taking walks. Frank was a proud American, a great person to know and is now with Jesus in Heaven. He will be greatly missed.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Daniel Elva Janosik of Nashville; daughters, Diane Johnston of Mobile, AL and Kathy Richard Perry of Summit, IL; grandchildren, Kelly DeWight Amy Haymaker of Old Hickory, Ramona Lee Davis of Vinita Springs, FL, Kelly Mick Scott of Long Beach, CA; great grandchildren, Casey Hatmaker, Daniel Hatmaker and Jada Hatmaker, all of Old Hickory; a sister, Agnes Gert of Richmond, IL. He was preceded in death by a grandchild, Joshua Johnston and a son-in-law, Randy Johnston.
The family would like to express love for Dad and everything he accomplished during his life. We miss you Dad!
Pallbearers will be Richard Perry, Mick Scott, Kelly Hatmaker, Casey Hatmaker, Daniel Hatmaker and Lee Davis.
