Frank C. Lumpkins

March 31, 1917 — January 22, 2011

Frank Charles Lumpkins, aged 93, died January 22, 2011, following an extended illness, at Signature Healthcare in Columbia, TN.

Frank was born March 31, 1917, to Richard Earl and Leila Huckaba Lumpkins. He graduated from Lawrence County High School and briefly attended the University of Tennessee, playing football at both schools. He was a US Army Veteran of WW II. After WW II, he worked with his mother at Lumpkins Insurance Agency, but the majority of his working career was spent in the Los Angeles, California, area, where he lived and worked for many years. He returned to Lawrenceburg upon retirement to live in the house built by his Grandfather Huckaba in the early 1900's.

He was a member of Toastmasters International and was a born raconteur. He could entertain with stories, each more outrageous than the other, for hours on end. He was always interested in family and family history. He was also a member of American Legion. He always loved animals; a favorite was his faithful Dalmatian dog "Pooch" who accompanied him to California. In his later years, he loved the neighborhood cats.

He is survived by a sister: Mary Caroline L. Stone of Fredericksburg, VA and formerly of Pulaski, TN; a nephew: Robert S. Stone of Knoxville, TN, a niece: Carol Ann S. Rebman of Fredericksburg, VA; great nephews and numerous cousins. He was predeceased by a sister: Lenna Ruth Lumpkins and by his parents
The family wishes to express appreciation to the staff of Keestone Senior Community for their care of their Uncle Frank and especially to Dr. Marc and Beth Lerner, who have gone far and above the call of friendship.

A memorial service for Mr. Lumpkins will be conducted 2:00 PM Saturday, March 5, 2011 at the Methodist Church Chapel in Lawrenceburg. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to the Lawrence County Senior Citizens Association, 220 Centennial Blvd., Lawrenceburg, TN 38464.
