Mrs. Frances “Marie” Jones, age 87, passed away at her granddaughter’s home in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee on Tuesday, January 14, 2014.
Born on July 20, 1926 in Columbia, Tennessee, Marie was one of nine children born to the late William Walter Reaves and the late Sarah Ellen Gambill Reaves. In her early years, Marie worked at the Tennessee Knitting Mills. Marie was baptized on October 10, 1948 as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She truly loved studying the Bible and sharing the good news of God’s Kingdom with others. On August 12, 1964 she married Robert W. Jones. Beginning in 1981 until retiring in 1996, Marie was a childcare provider in her home. To all of the children, she was “Ree”. She loved them so much and treated them all as if they were her own. Marie enjoyed reading, traveling and had a sense of humor that could light up a room.
Mrs. Jones is survived by her daughters: Phyllis Vick of Columbia and Sandra (Richard) Trammell of Baytown, Texas; grandchildren: Tammy M. Holt and Cody Trammell; great-grandchildren: Tiffany Woody, Zachary R. Meade, Ethan Trammell, Rahlyn Trammell; sister-in-law: Mary Reaves; numerous nieces and nephews including 3 special nieces: Sara Ann (Raymond) Sirles, Minnie Ellen (Charles) Johnson and Mary Ellen Young. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband: Robert W. Jones; grandson: Robert C. Woody and 8 siblings.
Funeral services for Mrs. Jones will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Mt. Pleasant with Bro. Eric Sandusky officiating. Entombment will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will visit with friends on Friday, January 17, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia.
Zachary Meade, Danny Bovee, Danny Foglia, Richard Trammell, Cody Trammell, John Gwaltney, Roderic Bryson and Shane Sandusky will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be all of “Ree’s” kids and their families whom she loved so much during her years as a childcare provider.
The family request memorial donations be made to the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of New York.
