Frances Peery Fitzgerald, age 86 of Columbia, passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2014 at NHC Columbia.
Frances was born October 20, 1928 to Ervie Peery and Julia Ruth Scott Peery in Hohenwald, Tennessee. Frances loved her Lord and attended the East Side Church of Christ until her failing health prevented her from further attendance. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Frances started her career at Maury Manufacturing and Dixie Manufacturing as a seamstress. She also enjoyed sewing many quilts for her loved ones and relatives. Frances loved gardening and being able to can her homegrown fruits and vegetables. Later in life she retired from Walmart where she worked as a greeter.
Funeral services for Frances will be conducted at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia Thursday, December 18, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with Bro. Brian Gregory officiating. The family will gather with friends on Wednesday, December 17 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia. Burial will follow in the Garden of Prayer at Polk Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Heath Fitzgerald, Chris Staten, Billy Brown, Sammy Brown, James Prince, and Jerry Corvin. Honorary Pallbearers will be James White, Al Hammond, Clint Fitzgerald, and her nieces and nephews.
Frances is survived by her daughter, Kim Fitzgerald of Columbia; one son, Bobby Joe (Sharon) Fitzgerald of Culleoka; grandson, Heath Fitzgerald; granddaughter, Lauren Fitzgerald; great granddaughter, Maddilynn Staten; one special sister-in-law, Aileene Peery; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her twin brothers, Olnie and Volnie Peery; sisters, Josephine Baker, Ann Moore, and Kathleen Brown.
