Mr. Floyd Pinkleton, Jr., long time resident of School Street, passed away on Thursday evening at Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville.
Funeral services for Mr. Pinkleton will be conducted Monday at 10:30 A.M. at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Bro. Curtis Dowdy officiaiting. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.
The family will visit with friends on Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Born on September 20, 1923 in Maury County, Floyd was the son of the late Floyd and Rosie Bell Lovell Pinkleton. He was the husband of Jackie Davis Pinkleton who preceded him in death. He was an officer with the Columbia Police Department and retired after 30 years of service. Floyd was an avid fisherman and thoroughly enjoyed woodworking and hunting. After his retirement, he enjoyed the time he and Jackie spent together camping. Along with his wife Jackie, Floyd had been a life long member of the Highland Church of Christ.
Survivors include his son: Stan Pinkleton of Harriman, TN; one sister: Malene Chumley of Columbia; sister-in-law: Marilyn Pinkleton of Columbia; brother-in-law: Austin Brewer of Columbia and a special friend and cousin: Sara Posey, also of Columbia, along with a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, Floyd was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law Doris Pinkleton and brothers and sisters: Ostene Horne, Lorene Haynes, Howard "Buck" Pinkleton, Emelene Brewer and Nolan Pinkleton.
Pallbearers will be Kenny Compton, Rodney Pinkleton, Ray Brewer, Randy Brewer, Floyd Horne and Edgar Chumley. Honorary pallbearers will be Edwin Chumley, Austin Brewer and retired officers of the Columbaia Police Department.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff of Morning Pointe Assisted Living where Mr. Pinkleton had made his home for several years.
