LeNada Willson, age 82, of Ethridge passed gently into the world of Spirit Monday morning August 28th. She retired as a window clerk for the U.S. Post Office.
At the time of death she had for many years lived in the home of her daughter Dr. Ellen Willson.
In the 1960's LeNada was the major financial contributor and founding mother in building the First Southern Baptist church in Mojave, California, where she moved as a sixteen year old bride and lived until retirement. She was known for her beautiful soprano voice with a haunting vibrato and in addition to the choir was lead singer of the Sweet Adelines who performed for community and charitable events.
LeNada was an enthusiastic supporter of her children and grandchildren's sporting and, social activities and was a den mother and active participant in Boy and Girl Scouts of America. She loved taking the Girl Scouts on week long trips to the California beach, and as an extraordinarily gifted seamstress she once reupholstered every seat of an old school bus her son's troop bought cheap for an extended summer adventure to Alaska; she also happily spent a lifetime creating magnificent gowns for her daughters' Rainbow Girl activities and other formal events.
Her memorial service will be held at LeNada and Ellen's home at 80 Waterford Road, Ethridge, on Saturday September 9 at 11:00 a.m.
A brief service celebrating LeNada's entry into real life will preceed the spreading of her ashes and we'll then enjoy a covered dish supper and live music. Call Ellen Willson at 766-8063 or 766-1120, or Patrick and Ty Willson at 766-4006 for directions or questions.
