Flora Malene Chumley

Mrs. Flora Malene Pinkleton Chumley, age 93, resident of Gene Fitzgerald Road in the Knob Creek Community, passed away, Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at Maury Regional Medical Center.
Born August 9, 1917 in Giles County, Tennessee. She was the daughter of the late Floyd Sr. and Rosa Bell Lovell Pinkleton. She was the wife of the late Edgar Nolan Chumley who preceded her in death on July 11, 2000. Malene worked at Dixie Manufacturing. She then farmed with her husband and was also a homemaker. She was a member of Phillipi Church of Christ.
Mrs. Chumley is survived by her two sons, Edgar N. Donna Chumley, Jr. and Edwin Marie Chumley both of Columbia; grandson, Kevin Silvia Chumley of Columbia; two brother-in-laws, Austin Brewer and Dudley Novella Chumley; two sister-in-laws, Marilyn Pinkleton and Grace Whitley both of Columbia; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Ostene Horn, Lorene Haynes and Emelene Brewer and three brothers, Buck Pinkleton, Floyd Pinkleton, Jr. and Nolan Pinkleton.
Funeral services for Mrs. Chumley will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, February 25, 2011 in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Ed Murphy and Leonard Dean officiating. Interment will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens.
The Chumley Family will receive friends from 4:00-8:00 P.M. on Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
Active pallbearers will be Floyd Horne, Stan Pinkleton, Rodney Pinkleton, Robert Whitley, Richard Whitley, Alan Chumley and Ray Brewer. Honorary pallbearers will be friends and neighbors of the Knob Creek Community, men of Philippi Church of Christ, Thomas Anderson, Tommy Anderson, all of the staff at The Bridge of Columbia and staff of the critical care department at Maury Regional Medical Center.
