Mrs. Flora Brewer Burns Stone, age 95, a long time resident of West 14th Street, passed away on Sunday, December 25, 2011, at NHC Hillview.
Born December 12, 1916 in Maury County, Mrs. Flora was the daughter of the late Calvin William Brewer and Dena Irene Pugh Brewer. She was first married to the late Ernest C. Burns and later she married William F. Stone who also preceded her in death. Flora was retired after 50 years of employment with Dixie Manufacturing. She was a long time member of the Highland Church of Christ.
Survivors include one son, E.C. Kaye D. Burns of Knoxville; two brothers, Charles Brewer and Austin Brewer, both of Columbia; three sisters, Faye Don Brewer McFarland Coup of Nashville, Maye Brewer Morrow Johnston and Laura Brewer White Parks, both of Columbia; one great-granddaughter, Erica Parton Smith of Knoxville and three great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Dawn Renee Parton; two sisters, Virginia Brewer Dunn and Juanita Brewer Voss and two sisters-in-law, Emmelene Brewer and Thelma Brewer.
Funeral services for Mrs. Stone will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Bro. Curtis Dowdy officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens.
The family will visit with friends on Tuesday from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Morrow, Larry Turner, Ray Brewer, Randy Brewer and Scott Turner.
