Evelyn Trousdale, age 98, passed away on Monday, May 31st, 2021, at NHC Columbia in Columbia, TN. She was born on April 21st, 1923 to the late D.B Finley and Margaret Louise Cunningham in Florence, Alabama.
Evelyn graduated from Haylong High School in Mt. Pleasant in 1942. Not long after graduating, Evelyn was swept off her feet by the dashing William P. Trousdale, Sr. and they married on May 28th, 1944, and raised 2 wonderful boys together.
Evelyn has been a faithful member of First United Methodist in Mt. Pleasant since the age of 14. She devoted her time to reading and studying her Bible and her special Sunday School Book “Bible Expositor and Illuminator”. Evelyn enjoyed her pastime working on Crossword Puzzles in the Daily Herald, fishing, camping, and canning delicious pickles. Evelyn was a very talented piano player and taught her grandchildren how to play. She was a wonderful cook but had a special knack for pies and cakes.
A graveside service for Evelyn will be held Wednesday, June 2nd, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Pisgah Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Patrick Trousdale, Skyler Trousdale, William Trousdale, Will Trousdale, Jeffrey Skelton, and Gunner Skelton.
Evelyn is preceded in death by her husband: William “Pete” Trousdale, Sr.; son: Pete Trousdale, Jr.; sister: Margaret Juanita Finley; brother-in-law: Ewell Belcher.
Evelyn is survived by her son: Dawson Lee “Sonny” (Patty) Trousdale; daughter-in-law: Deena Trousdale; grandchildren: Misty (Jeffrey) Skelton, Patrick (Sarah Catherine) Trousdale, William P. (Daphne) Trousdale III; great-grandchildren: Ansley Faith Roberts, Finley Grace Skelton, Gunner Lee Skelton, Skyler Trousdale, Gracie Catherine Trousdale, Deanna Trousdale, Will Trousdale; and a special niece: Connie (Mark) Hill.
