Evelyn Scroggins Patterson

Mrs. Evelyn Scroggins Patterson, age 83, a resident of N. James Campbell Blvd., in Columbia, passed away on Monday, September 15, 2008 at Maury Regional Hospital.
Funeral services for Mrs. Patterson will be conducted Thursday at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. Jeff Yohe and Rev. Charles Clark officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 9:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
The Limestone Co., Ala., native was the daughter of the late Willie E. Scroggins and Nellie Gibson Scroggins. She was the wife of the late Rev. Billy Patterson who preceded her in death in 2006. She was retired from Lasko in Franklin. Mrs. Patterson also walked hand in hand with her loving husband in full time ministry. She was a member of The Church of God.
Mrs. Patterson enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, cross stitch, and making fried pies for her family and friends. She was a beloved mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her children: Eleanor L. Clark, Carolyn Fay Charles Martindale, both of Columbia, Boyd Marscell Alice Patterson, Sr., of Atlanta and Wendell L.Brenda Patterson of Franklin; grandchildren: Angela Terry Sargent of Columbia, Boyd M. Nancy Patterson, Jr., of Chattanooga, Dr. P.J. Kimberley Patterson of Charlotte, NC, Evelyn Ehret of Columbia, Steven D. Adena Martindale of Culleoka, Elisabeth Gideon Markley of Greer, SC, Phillip D. Patterson of Nashville, Emily Patterson of Murfreesboro, Evan A. Patterson of Franklin; great-grandchildren: Wilburn Lee Sargent of Columbia, George Ehert of Columbia, Trey Patterson and Samantha Patterson, both of Chattanooga, Gideon Markley of Greer, SC, Jackson Patterson of Charlotte, NC, Andrew Sargent of Columbia, and Carrie Jay Pruitt of Lewisburg; one great-great-grandson: Tripp Pruitt of Lewisburg; two sisters: Bertha Clark of Columbia and Lois Johnson of LA and one brother: Lawrence Scroggins of Columbia. She was preceded in death by one sister: Lucille Tucker and brothers: Oscar, Elmer, William E., L.M., James Nolan and Ambrose Dean Scroggins and a son-in-law: E. Wilburn Clark.
Pallbearers will be Boyd M. Patterson, Jr., P.J. Patterson, Steven Martindale, Wilburn Lee Sargent, Phillip D. Patterson, Evan A. Patterson, Eddie Johnson and Ricky Scroggins.
The family has requested that memorial donations be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 2120 Crestmoor Road, Nashville, TN 37215, American Heart Association, 1818 Patterson St., Nashville, TN 37203 or the Alzheimer's Foundation, 4004 Hillsboro Pike, Nashville, TN 37215.
