Evelyn Joyce Potts Carter

Evelyn Joyce Potts Carter, age 75, passed away in her home on Thursday, December 8, 2022 in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee.
Evelyn was born on September 19, 1947 to the late Bill Potts and Lorene Maxwell Ferguson in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee.
Evelyn was a wonderful woman. She was a skilled cook and had a green thumb. She was always making sure her flowers were up to standard in her eyes. She also enjoyed watching the hummingbirds come into her yard on the bird feeder she was gifted. If you didn’t find her in her garden, she was probably inside shopping on the channels for whatever she could find. Evelyn was a talented singer and she also loved to dance.
Evelyn was a charter member of the Southside Baptist church and loved her church family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Evelyn has been reunited in heaven with her husband: Rupert Carter; granddaughter: Kerri Beth Stowell; great grandson: MJ Colvett; stepfather: Larrimore Ferguson; and parents: Bill Potts and Lorene Maxwell Ferguson.
Those left behind to cherish her memories are her children: Pam (Barry) Smithmier, Maury (Stacy) Colvett, and Tommy Colvett; sister: Betty Barker; grandchildren: Patrick Colvett, Amber Pippin, Brittany Bryant, Hogan Smithmier, Carolina Smithmier, Crystal Colvett, Breanne Colvett, John Colvett, Maury Lee Colvett Jr., Payne Colvett, and Clayton Colvett; greatgrandchildren: Cadence McKennon, Kaegan McKennon, Ryker Parham, Peyton Colvett, Paisley Colvett, Kyson Noble, Layton Bryant, Luke Bryant, Mason Bryant, Chase Pippin, Scarlet Colvett, Gabriel Colvett, Jax Hunter, Evelyn Colvett, Tripp Colvett, Matthew Colvett, and Giles Colvett.
Pallbearers will be Patrick Colvett, John Colvett, Lee Colvett, Payne Colvett, Clay Colvett, and Hogan Smithmier.
The family will receive friends on Friday, December 9, 2022 at 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee. A service for Evelyn will be Saturday, December 10, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Dustin Laster officiating. Evelyn will be laid to rest at Arlington Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee.
