Evelyn Oliver Crews

April 21, 1921 — September 8, 2008

Mrs. Evelyn Oliver Crews, 87, a resident of Sioux Trail in Columbia, passed away on Sunday, September 7th, at her residence.

Funeral services for Mrs. Crews will be conducted Wednesday, September 10, at 11:00 A.M. at the Northview Church of Christ with Bro. Wayne Hardison and Bro. Olan Bassham officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens.

The family will visit with friends on Tuesday from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia.

The Maury County native was the daughter of the late William Oliver and Grace Dugger Oliver. She was the wife of Claude Crews whom she married on November 19, 1939. Mrs. Crews was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved cooking and making quilts for all of her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Crews was an avid collector of "what-nots". She always loved to brag on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Northview Church of Christ. Mrs. Crews was a member of the Church of Christ for 75 years, since she was 12 years old.

Survivors in addition to her husband include her sons: David Diann Crews of Brentwood, Mickey Crews of Summertown, Raymond Kerry Crews of Dallas, TX and Dale Pat Crews of Columbia; grandchildren: Lana Brooks, Jana Infield, Mario Crews, Amy Chitty, Adam Crews, Jason Crews, Heather Crews and Tonya Keith; 12 great-grandchildren; one brother: Charles Oliver and two sisters: Rachel Beard and Laverne Wood; many nieces, nephews and all of her beloved friends, too numerous to list. She was preceded in death by two brothers: Ed Oliver and Odell Oliver and one sister: Dora Dean Hardy.

Pallbearers will be Mario Crews, Adam Crews, Jason Crews, Jerry Oliver, Mark Hardy, Phillip Crews, Denton Crews and Bill Chaffin. Honorary pallbearers will be elders and deacons of Northview Church of Christ, Charles Thornton, Ronnie Pennington, Dr. Hrishi Kanth, Dr. William Robinson and Keith Woods. Special thanks to Caris Hospice and the team of Mindy McEndarfer, Pam Honey and Pamela Holland.
