Mrs. Evalena McCrary Hay, age 85. a long time resident of Stonewall Road in Columbia, passed away on Wednesday, March 7, at Hidden Acres Nursing Home in Mt. Pleasant.
Funeral services for Mrs. Hay will be conducted Friday at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. Steve Swango officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.
The family will visit with friends Thursday from 5:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home.
The Winston Co., Alabama native was the daughter of the late Andrew J. and Victoria E. Cagle McCrary. She was the wife of the late Roger Earl Hay who passed away on April 10, 2004. She had worked for Dixie Manufacturing before becoming co-owner and operator of the Sweet Shop with her husband. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include two sons: Jimmy Virginia Harris of Columbia and Michael E. Mary Jane Hay of Mt. Pleasant; three sisters: Marie Paul Tomlinson, Gladys Edward Simmons and Audrey Scott, all of Columbia; one brother: Sherman McCrary of Hampshire; grandchildren: Michael Jessy Hay, Roger Mary Hay, Ava Pete Frost and Sharon Denise Parmer, all of Columbia; 9 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; one very special niece: Paula Sue Markham of Columbia.
Pallbearers will be Michael Hay, Roger Hay, Daniel Parmer, Joshua Parmer, Andrew Parmer, Ben Frost and Pete Frost.
