Eugene Barnes

April 1, 1926 — November 1, 2003

Mr. Eugene ?Gene? Barnes, 77, retired from Monsanto Chemical Company and a resident of Apache Trail in Columbia died Saturday November 01, 2003 at Maury Regional Hospital.

Funeral services for Mr. Barnes will be conducted Sunday November 2, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at the Williams Columbia Funeral Home with Reverend Wayne Parks officiating. Burial will be in the West Point Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

The Kentucky native was the son of the late Clarence and Lizzie Fox Barnes. He was the husband of Mrs. Minnie Kelley Barnes. He was a retired electrician at Monsanto Chemical Company and a farmer. He was a avid gardener, fisherman and hunter. He was a member of West Point Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons, Roy Lois Barnes of Brentwood TN and Robert Barnes of Columbia, TN; three sisters,
Margaret Elton Brady of Santa Fe, TN, Hazel Herman Adair and Dot Vance Potts both of Hohenwald, TN; three brothers, James Thelma Barnes and Charles Lollie Barnes both of Columbia, TN, Bobby Lorene Barnes of Summerville, Al; three grandchildren, Jonathan Barnes of Jacksonville, FL, Nathan Barnes of Columbia, TN and Caren Barnes of Brentwood, TN; several nieces & nephews.

Pallbearers will be Jonathan Barnes, Nathan Barnes, Jerry Potts, Randy Brady, Mike Beard, Bernard Burns, J.C. Kelley, Clyde Kelley, Roger Hill and Bill Barnes.

Honorary pallbearers will be retirees of Monsanto Chemical Company, members of West Point Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Dr. Cummins Couch and Staff of NHC/Hillview.
