Mrs. Ethel Varadi Buka, 68, a resident of Valley Drive in Columbia, died Tuesday, August 6, 2002 at Maury Regional Hospital.
The funeral mass for Mrs. Buka will be recited Saturday, August 10, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Catherine Catholic Church with Reverend Patrick Conner officiating. Burial will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Williams Columbia Funeral Home with a prayer vigil being held at 8:00 p.m.
The Novi Itebej, Yugoslavia native was the daughter of the late Steve and Ethel Budai Varadi. She was the widow of Steve Buka who died February 14, 1997. She was a retired cashier for Bulk Food, USA in Southgate, Michigan and was a former self-employed seamstress. She was a member of the Hungarian Club in Taylor, Michigan. She was a communicant of St. Catherine Catholic Church in which she was actively involved in the affairs of the church and member of the choir.
She is survived by a daughter, Hayni Kevin Blue of Columbia, TN; a sister, Eva Johan Gerhardt of Berlin, Germany; 6 grandchildren; Brigitte Johan Lindeman of Columbia, TN, Steve Aaaron Yankowski of Spring Hill, TN, Justin Blue of Kalamazoo, MI, Jessica Blue of Columbia, TN, Jennifer Blue of Kalamazoo, MI, and Jeremy Blue of Columbia, TN; 1 great grandchild, Casey Blue Lindeman of Columbia, TN; 1 niece, Erika Gerhardt of Berlin Germany; 1 nephew, Zoltan Gerhardt of Berlin, Germany.
Pallbearers will be Steve Aaron Yankowski, Jeremy Blue, Jim Cooley, Rob Gill, Jack Jean, Ryan Cooley, and Charlie Skora.
