Mr. Estill E. Thompson, 98, formerly of General Roberts Drive in Columbia, died Monday, March 15, 2004 in Mobile, Alabama where he had made his home for several years.
Services for Mr. Thompson will be conducted Wednesday, March 17, 2004 at 1:30 p.m. at Polk Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with Reverend Bob Vassar officiating. Williams Funeral Home in Columbia is in charge of the arrangements.
The Bedford County native was the son of the late George Ernest and Virginia Elizabeth Roberts Thompson. He was the husband of the late Lounettie Jennings Thompson who died in 2003. He was a graduate of Shelbyville High School. He retired from the Nashville City Government Maintenance Division in 1979. He was a former manager of Jack?s Motel in Donelson and Richland Inn in Pulaski and also owned and operated Shapard?s Dry Cleaners in Shelbyville. He was currently a member of Pleasant Heights Baptist Church in Columbia and was previously active in the First Baptist Church of Pulaski and Belmont Heights Baptist Church in Nashville.
He is survived by three granddaughters, Debra Don Mayes of Mobile, AL, Linda Andrew Jackson of Tullahoma, TN, and Pam Ted Verville of Rossville, GA; eight great grandchildren, Shane Mayes and Ryan Mayes, Shara Jackson, Joseph Jackson, Benjamin Jackson and Spencer Jackson, Rachel Verville and Luke Verville. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly Shanklin of Columbia, TN.
Pallbearers will be Don Mayes, Shane Mayes, Andrew Jackson, Spencer Jackson, Ted Verville, and Luke Verville. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Good News Sunday School Class at Pleasant Heights Baptist Church.
