Mrs. Ester Lorene "Granny Potts" Ferguson, age 88, a resident of Summer Street in Mt. Pleasant, passed away June 5, 2011 at the home of her daughter surrounded by her love ones.

Born May 30, 1923 in Maury County, daughter of the late Clifford and Mary Bethel Hayes Maxwell and wife of the late Fulton Larimore Ferguson. She was a great cook and a woman who prayed all the time for her family, the homeless, the soldiers and anyone else she could think of. She was known for taking people in and caring for them. She was a homemaker and a charter member of Southside Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughters: Betty David Barker and Joyce Bill Carter, both of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren: Tommy Melissa Colvett, Terry Alana Colvett, Maury Stacy Colvett, all of Mt. Pleasant, Pam Barry Smithmier of Cookeville and Lynn Jeff Smith of Columbia; great grandchildren: Partick Colvett, Amber Pippin, Brittany Smithmier, Hogan Smithmier, Weston Colvett, Max Colvett, Trey Colvett, Heather Smith, Hannah Smith, Clay Colvett, Lee Colvett, Payne Colvett, John Colvett, Crystal Colvett, Breanne Colvett, Drew Colvett, Chase Pippin and Kyson Stowell; brothers: Ray Maxwell of Cookeville and Clifford Maxwell Jr. of MO; sister: Molly Burgett of Mt. Pleasant. Preceded in death by her great grandchildren: Kerri Beth Stowell and M. J. Colvett; several sisters and brothers.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ferguson will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 8, 2011 in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Bro. Danny Laster officiating. Interment will follow in the Arlington Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 3:00 – 8:00 PM and 12 Noon till service time at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Terry Colvett, Tommy Colvett, Maury Colvett, Jeff Smith, Barry Smithmier and Patrick Colvett. Honorary pallbearers will be John Swaner, her great grandchildren and members of Southside Baptist Church.
