Ernest R. "Mule" Crews

Mr. Ernest R. ?Mule? Crews, 75, a resident of W. Merchant St. in Mt. Pleasant, died Saturday, May 7, 2005 at Maury Regional Hospital.

Funeral services for Mr. Crews will be conducted Monday May 9, 2005 at 3:00 p.m. at the Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. William Owens officiating. Burial will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the Tennessee National Guard. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 4:00 to 9:00 pm at the funeral home.

The Maury County native was the son of the late George D. and Rosie Lee Dodson Crews and husband of the late Joyce Mae Crews, who passed away in 1990 and to whom he was married for 36 years, later on he married Katie Crews. He was a retired furnace operator with Rhone Poulanc, a veteran of the US Army, a member of the American Legion, a mason with the Masonic Lodge #610, avid golfer and fisherman. He was of the Church of Christ faith.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Lynn Bobby Thurman of Mt. Carmel, TN, Sandy Jerry Roberts of Mt. Pleasant and Kim Cummins Sandefur of Columbia; two sisters, Kitty Chaffin of Columbia and Mildred Haley of Smyrna, GA; two brothers, Claude Crews of Columbia and Charles Crews of Glenn Allen, VA; four granddaughters, Sarah Thurman of Mt. Carmel, TN, Casey Trevor Brewer, Kristin Cummins and Kourtney Cummins, all of Columbia; two grandsons, Joshua Thurman of Mt. Carmel, TN and Neylan Roberts of Mt. Pleasant; a great granddaughter, Kylie Mae Brewer of Columbia; a step-son, Richard Cole of Mt. Pleasant; a very special friend, Ann Kelley of Mt. Pleasant.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Jim, George, Jack and William ?Dookie? Crews.

Pallbearers will be Joshua Thurman, Neylan Roberts, Trever Brewer, Horace Boshers, Jeff Sisk, Bill Chaffin, Richard Cole and Dale Crews. Honorary pall bearers will be Jerry Colvett and the members of the Mt. Pleasant Country Club.

Memorials may be made to the Mt. Pleasant Free Will Baptist Church Building Fund.
