Ernest Clinton Tucker, age 85, of Summertown, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, January 15, 2018 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Ernest, a Korean War Veteran who served honorably through two tours of duty in the United States Army. During his service he was the recipient of two Purple Heart Awards.
Ernest was the son of Lonnie and Naomi Collier Tucker and was born in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee on February 5, 1932. He was the husband of Verlie Bailey Tucker who passed away in June of 2015. He was retired from Union Carbide, having worked as a welder. He was a member of the Classic Car Club in Lawrenceburg. Ernest lived his life his way and to the fullest.
Survivors who are remembering Mr. Tucker with great love and loss include his daughters: Donna Tucker, Lori Ferguson, Sherry (David) Waldrop and Micah Tucker all of Summertown; daughter-in-law: Tammy Long Tucker; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings: Josephine Psota and Norma Burns of Summertown and Danise (Bobby) Fisher of Lebanon, TN; and best friend: Jerry Journey. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his son: Patrick Tucker, 1 grandson, 3 great-grandchildren, 4 sisters and 2 brothers.
Funeral services for Ernest will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 2:00 p.m., in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Larry Spears officiating. Burial will follow at the John Lay Cemetery in Ethridge with military honors being provided by the American Legion Herbert Griffin Post 19. The family will visit with friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. immediately preceding the funeral service at the funeral home.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
