Ernest Thomas Crews, Jr.

Mr. Ernest Thomas Crews, Jr., 80, died Tuesday, January 24, 2006 at his residence on Southport Road near Mt. Pleasant.

Funeral services for Mr. Crews will be conducted Friday, January 27, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at the Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Jim Walsh officiating. Burial will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors being provided by the Tennessee National Guard. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

The Lewis County native was the son of the late Ernest T., Sr. and Hilda Rone Crews and was the husband of 54 years to Helen Dooley Crews. Mr. Crews was retired from Stauffer Chemical Company with 39 years of service. He was a member of the Locust Street Church of Christ and Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. He proudly served our country in the United States Army during World War II having received the EAME Theatre Ribbon with 2 Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal, World War II Army of Occupation Medal, and the Combat Infantry Badge for Rifle Marksman.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Marilyn Bill Hardison of Pulaski, TN, Barbara Karch of Mt. Pleasant, TN, Doris Ken Frizzell of Murfreesboro, TN, and Paul Faye Crews of Mt. Pleasant, TN; two brothers, George ?Jack? Wanda Crews of Ridgefield, WA and Bobby Alice Crews of Mt. Pleasant, TN; seven grandchildren, Heather Hardison, Rebecca Michael Runions, Scott Hardison, Jennifer Karch, Richard J. Karch, Jr., Jordan Henderson, and Chelsey Crews; two great grandchildren, Kelsey and Blake Runions; three aunts, Betty Rone Rail, Rudell Rone Hickman, and Zelda Rone Durham; several nieces and nephews; three special friends, Shirley Bellafant, Linda Clark, and Linda Wood; his precious pet, Angel. He was preceded in death by a sister, Geneva Williams; two brothers, Ronald and Donald Crews.

Pallbearers will be Paul Crews, Bill Hardison, Ken Frizzell, Jordan Henderson, Richard J. Karch, Jr., Scott Hardison, Kenneth Dooley, and Jeff Sisk. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Locust Street Church of Christ, nurses of Hospice of the Highland Rim, former employees of Stauffer Chemical Company, Dr. Lisa Mendes and nurse, Cindy Barber at Vanderbilt Hospital, Dr. Kelly Williams and Dr. James B. Kelley; friends, Ronnie Woody, David Lovell, Arnold Grooms, Ray Floyd, Michael Runions, and Jim Dooley.
