Ernest “Ray” Raymond Jackson, Sr., age 95, of Columbia, passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2019 at his residence.
Ray was born on December 20, 1923, in Herrin, Illinois to Benjamin Franklin and Laura Daugherty Jackson. He served his country honorably in WWII in the Army Air Force. He was married to Evelyn Cassier Jackson, who preceded him in death. He worked as a service tech at Sears. He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Schaumburg, Illinois. Ray was involved in whatever his family was interested in. Additionally, he enjoyed reading and bowling. Interestingly, he starred in Eric Church’s music video, “Talladega”, and made an appearance in Tim McGraw’s “Humble and Kind” video.
Cherishing his memory are his children: Ernest Raymond Jackson, Jr. of Columbia and Patricia Ann Miura of Columbia; grandchildren: Danielle (Cameron) Hammer of Spring Hill and Pennie (Robert) Taylor of Illinios; great-grandchildren: Samuel Taylor, Isabel Taylor, Jackson Hammer, Wyatt Hammer, Mackenna Hammer, and Judah Hammer; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife: Evelyn Jackson; parents: Benjamin and Laura Jackson; daughter: Linda Suzanne Sanchez; and siblings: Roy Jackson and Milladean Krefft.
The family will celebrate Ray’s life with a private memorial service at a later date in Illinois.
