Mr. Ernest Freeman Post, Jr. passed away on Sunday, November 11, 2012 at Maury Regional Medical Center.
Ernest was born on May 11, 1937 to the late Ernest Freeman Post, Sr. and the late Viola Patassi Post in Franklin, MA. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. On October 14, 1961 he married the love of his life, Carol Anne Conant Post and they had fifty-one happy years together. His wife remembers that in his younger years, he was the biggest flirt she ever met. He loved talking people into buying something and when he met Carol, he was selling vacuum cleaners. He spent the first part of his career selling jewelry, but his love for big trucks drew him into that industry. He retired from the trucking industry after working at Sharp Transport for many years.
His children recall that he was a great dad and that he was firm, but with the intention to teach them to become better people. He was strict but loving. The family remembers that he loved to hear stories about the mafia.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Post is survived by his children: Ernest “Ernie” Freeman Post, III, Cathleen (Robert) Chipman and Anne Marie (Kevin) Post-Regan; his grandchildren: Harley, Nicholas, Ryan, Joshua, Jennifer and Bobby.
The family will host an open house at their residence in Summertown on Tuesday, November 13 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. to gather together with friends to celebrate his life.
